Transformers Dark of the Moon is sure not to disappoint fans of the franchise.  This is a movie very high on action, with dazzling special effects and surprisingly good acting.  If you’ve been reluctant to go see Transformers 3, a Transformers: Dark of the Moon review might help you come to a final decision.  First, let’s address the “elephant in the living room”: Yes, this sequel is better than Transformers 2!  If you’re among many fans who were left unimpressed by the first sequel, this one will almost certainly be a pleasant surprise for you.

The story line is quite involved and interesting, and comes across fairly realistic for a movie that is based around alien beings who transform into look-a-likes of popular Earth vehicles.  Basically, the idea is that the Apollo moon-landing mission had a secret ulterior motive to investigate an alien crash site located on the dark side of the moon.  When the truth of that mission is revealed, the Autobots must mobilize to protect the planet from the potential for total enslavement, on a level that is unprecedented.  Along the way, a tale of betrayal and collaboration is spun, as we’re introduced to humans who forge an alliance with the Decepticons out of greed or self-preservation.

The movie begins with what certainly seems like a deliberate attempt to focus the attention of male viewers, as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (Transformers: Dark of the Moon actress) makes her debut.  In keeping with her past as a Victoria Secret model, she makes quite an introduction wearing next to nothing.  It’s little wonder that Maxim Magazine has put her at the top of their “Hot 100″ list for 2011.  Megan Fox will not be missed by most, and the loss of her character is mentioned only briefly, though colorfully.

The action in this movie is sure to be the real draw.  If you’re looking for explosions and commandos dodging bullets in “wing suits”, as they drop into a Chicago war zone, you’ll be satisfied.  The storyline is advanced quite well, and the movie has a sense of closure without closing the door for further sequels.  On the flip side, the movie seemed to drag out a bit towards the end with some scenes seeming to take too long to come to completion, but overall it delivers on what it promises and earns it’s reputation as an innovative and entertaining continuation of the Transformers franchise.

This movies is sure to entertain movie goers of all types, and there is some great humor inserted amongst all those fight sequences that will have you laughing, particularly a bathroom scene that is just hilarious.  The acting is top-notch, the storyline well constructed, the special effects are very good.  If you’ve been on the fence about going to see the latest Transformers sequel, get out there and see it.  It’s a movie meant for the big screen, and waiting for it to be released on DVD or Blu-Ray will likely not be nearly as satisfying.  So don’t miss this one, because it’s worth seeing, even if it’s the first Transformers movie you watch.
